Visiting Fellowship – Smith & Nephew

ELIGIBILITY


SMITH & NEPHEWApplications are open to orthopaedic specialists according to their national regulations and being under 45 years of age.

Applications are welcomed from surgeons across the Europe with an exception of French and Belgian fellows as they cannot be financially supported via a such programme due to the French and Belgian laws.

LIST OF HOST CENTERS AND GRANTS


Applicants may apply to visit one of the recognised hosting centres for the duration of six months.

Each grant is EUR 12’000 and is designed to cover major part of the fellow’s travel and living expenses during the visit.

APPLICATION GUIDELINES


Interested applicants are requested to apply online and submit the following documents together with the completed application form:

  • Copy of the MD license
  • Copy of the orthopaedic specialist license OR residency registration certificate
  • Two (2) recent letters of recommendation issued for the last 12 months

All applications will be periodically reviewed by EFORT Foundation evaluation committee as follows:

  • 1st Application round: Application period runs from January to April in the given year.
    Final decisions will be communicated to the applicants at latest by June of the same year.
  • 2nd Application round: Application period runs from May to August in the given year.
    Final decisions will be communicated to the applicants at latest by October of the same year.
  • 3rd Application round: Application period runs from September to December in the given year.
    Final decisions will be communicated to the applicants at latest by February of the following year.

Interested candidates are invited to submit their application throughout the year and one application only per year of reference. Applicants who have not been awarded a visiting fellowship grant in the course of the previous two years are allowed to apply again for the current year.

Language requirements have to be determined on a case-by-case basis by the host centre, and have to be matched with the fellow’s language skills.

A new application is mandatory if any modifications in length and/or in host centres’ destination are made by the applicant during the application process.
